In 1985, the Nevada American Society of Landscape Architects began as a small grassroots organization for Southern Nevada landscape architects, landscape contractors, material suppliers, associated consultants and horticulturists to discuss issues, trends, and styles of landscaping in the area. The organization expanded over the next five years to include members in Northern Nevada. In 1990, the Southern California Chapter absorbed the Nevada Chapter as a subsection. The Nevada Chapter received independent Chapter status on October 1, 1998.
