Larven Mason was born on February 7, 1913 to John Lee Mason and Stella Melissa Mason in Caribou, Idaho, one of five children. After moving to Nevada, Mason worked at the Blue Diamond Mine in Cottonwood, Nevada, now known as Blue Diamond, Nevada, for the Blue Diamond Materials Company of California that operated a gypsum mine there from 1923 to 1959. Mason was drafted into the military in 1940 and served in the 1875th Aviation Engineers, United States Army Air Corps stationed in the China Burma India Theater during World War II. Mason married Andree Martha Mills on December 23, 1961 and died on November 15, 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
