Josie Dondich (1908-1976) owned the Cut Rate Liquor Store located at 132 South Fifth Street (now Las Vegas Boulevard) in the 1940s. Her husband Ali T. Dondich (1896-1943) served in World War I and worked for Six Companies during the construction of Hoover Dam. The couple had three children, Alex (1925-1942), Elena (1927-2004), and James. Alex Dondich died in a POW camp in the Philippines during World War II. Josie Dondich passed away in 1976.
