Since the 1990s, the Professional Black Women’s Alliance has supported and acknowledged African American women in Las Vegas, Nevada. The organization was founded to promote professional role models for fellow black women and to include black women in the history of Nevada. Each year, the organization recognizes several successful black women in the Greater Las Vegas community through its Rose Awards.

Material was processed by UNLV Special Collections staff in 2005. In 2014, as part of a legacy finding aid conversion project, Ian M. Baldwin revised and enhanced the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards. Subsequently Joyce Moore uploaded it to ArchivesSpace.
