Sun International Hotels Limited is a prominent casino resort operator in the southern hemisphere, with a self-reported 42.5% share of the South African casino market. As of 2019, Sun International Hotels Limited operates in eight countries: South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Chile. After finding success partnering with South African Breweries to establish the Southern Sun Hotels chain in 1969, South African hotel mogul Solomon Kerzner expanded his business interests and established Sun International Hotels Limited in 1993. The purpose of establishing Sun International Hotels Limited as its own company was to acquire three resorts from Resorts International Inc., most notably the Paradise Island Beach Resort, which has since become the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort under the Kerzner International Resorts umbrella.
