Materials remain in original order. Many of the photographic prints have corresponding negatives. Negatives have been housed separately and can be found in box 7.
The Moapa Indian Reservation in Nevada was created in 1873 when 39,000 square miles was reserved by the federal government for tribal lands. However, in 1875, the reserved land was cut down to only 1,000 acres. A Constitution and bylaws were created in 1941 and a governing body was established for the tribe. By 1968 the Moapa Indian Reservation began receiving funds from the American government for improvements and economic development.
