University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) journalism professor Barbara Cloud (1938-2009) started working at UNLV in 1979. Before becoming a professor at UNLV, Cloud was a reporter for newspapers in Oregon and Idaho. Cloud also worked as a freelance journalist in Los Angeles, California and as a public relations consultant. Before retiring from UNLV in 2005, Cloud served as the associate provost for academic affairs from 1998 to 2003, was the president of the UNLV Phi Kappa Phi honorary society, and established the UNLV chapter of Kappa Tau Alpha. Cloud was the author of several books including,
