Barbara and John Kizziar Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Barbara and John Kizziar Photograph Collection primarily contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam) construction during John Kizziar’s time working for Six Companies Inc. between approximately 1986 and 1992. These images are reproductions of originals taken from between approximately 1930 and 1945. They detail John Kizziar’s work life during the dam’s construction, as well as events and scenes associated with the dam. Other images portray billboards and streets in Boulder City, Nevada.

Cork Proctor oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Cork Proctor conducted by Claytee D. White on February 3, 2006 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Proctor discusses his upbringing in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1940s and 1950s. He tells several anecdotes of his life, such as the time he stole a car in the Huntridge Theater parking lot or his time working as a gravedigger, and describes popular establishments and entertainment venues in Las Vegas.

Abstract

The Harmon Family Photograph Collection contains black-and-white and color photographic prints, negatives, postcards, and slides of the Harmon family in Las Vegas and Boulder City, Nevada between approximately 1900 and 1983. Las Vegas photographs depict the Harmon family in their home, at a ranch, and at Las Vegas High School. Boulder City photographs include a wedding and a view of Black Canyon, Nevada.

Perri Family Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Perri Family Photograph Collection (approximately 1950-1959) consists of black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of Las Vegas, Nevada landmarks such as McCarran Field, Last Frontier Village, and the Union Pacific Railroad Depot. The photographs depict the Perri family at these various locations. Also included in the collection are photographs of the Las Vegas Race Track and Las Vegas Fire Department.

Bonnie and Billy Wilkinson oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Bonnie and Billy Wilkinson conducted by Claytee D. White on May 10, 2008 for the History of Blue Diamond Village in Nevada Oral History Project. The Wilkinsons open the interview by discussing their personal histories. Billy recalls moving to Jean, Nevada in 1940 where his father worked on the railroad, and eventually settling to Blue Diamond, Nevada in the 1950s. The two describe the Four Mile brothel, Bonnie Springs Ranch, and their experience as a married couple in Blue Diamond.

The images depict Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada, highlighting the changes over the years. Other images include the artesian well at the Cragin family home and Methodist churches in Las Vegas.
