Abstract

Oral history interview with the Sperling Kronberg and Mack Holocaust Resource Center conducted by Barbara Tabach on September 4, 2014 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. In this interview, Myra Berkovits, Susan Dubin, and Doug Unger discuss the history of the Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center and how it serves to provide holocaust educational materials to the Southern Nevada community. The interviewees discuss the Holocaust Resource Center's priority of education and awareness as well as the history of its funding.

Oral history interview with Tony Moreo conducted by Claytee D. White on September 13, 2007 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. In this interview, Moreo compares growing up in New York to his life in Las Vegas, Nevada. He explains how he did not perform as well as other students back when he was in school, but then describes a major turning point in his life was when he studied culinary arts in college. In the rest of the interview, Moreo talks about moving to Las Vegas to pursue a career in culinary arts.

Oral history interview with Esther Langston conducted by Claytee D. White on February 22, 2005 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. In this interview, Langston provides an overview of her early life and career in social work. She describes how the women in her family are positive and empowering role models. Langston moves on to explain how she become a social worker over a period of many years. She states that a job experience that helped her gain the qualifications of a social worker was working as an office manager at the Nevada Test Site.

Oral history interview with Jim Jones conducted by Patrick Carlton on October 28, 2002 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. In this interview, Jones discusses different points in his career. He begins by talking about his early years in elementary school and his later years while attending Las Vegas High School. Jones discusses being a Las Vegas, Nevada native and becoming a dentist after a few years of graduate school. He discusses the different wars that took place over the years, and talks about his time serving in the military during the Korean War.

Oral history interview with Diane Meireis conducted by Claytee D. White on November 06, 2017 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, Meireis discusses her experience at the 1 October shooting. She remembers hearing gunfire, the confusion in the crowd, and finding a safe place to hide. Meireis describes the collaboration of strangers, and feeling guilt for not being able to help others as she escaped the venue. Lastly, Meireis discusses her opinions of firearms.

Oral history interview with Maria Paloma Galvan conducted by Claytee D. White on October 30, 2017 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, Galvan discusses the evening of October 1 as a Lyft driver. She recalls hearing gunfire while at the Luxor Hotel and Casino driveway and driving people away from the area. Galvan describes driving a wounded man to Sunrise Hospital and the scene there. Lastly, Galvan discusses the Las Vegas community after the tragedy, and her attitude on gun laws.
