U.S. Post Office building located on Main Street on UPRR tract. The post office had only general delivery service with post office boxes until December 1933, when local delivery began. This was the period of "hook and toss" when mail was tossed from passing train. If the hook was not hit exactly, the bag might be torn and the mail scattered. That often happened. Dear, Sam I want you to know it is not hot here. But cool in angles came over desert today. 160 miles of it and more coming before I see you again on my way home now. Try to be there august 1 as I known now. A wonderful trip. Your truly, E. J. S."

Prize Texas Steer, branded "LBJ" was sent by Lyndon B. Johnson to be auctioned off at the Clark County Democratic Club fundraiser at Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn Country Club. The man on the left is Michael Hines, attorney and former owner of Tule Springs Ranch who was the auctioneer for the event. The man on the right is Wilbur Clark, who worked at the Desert Inn. The woman in the middle is unidentified, but may have been a singer at the Desert Inn. The steer was auctioned for $3,000. Street Address: 3145 South Las Vegas Boulevard
